Since ancient times the Umbrian peoples have regarded Christianity as a point of reference not only in the religious sense, but also as a driving cultural force for local communities.
Over the centuries, places of worship and pilgrimage destinations have developed in every part of the region, of great importance for the many figures of Christians and saints who have given concrete examples of social, cultural and religious values.
Typical, in fact, are the historical-religious reenactments which in Umbria, more than elsewhere, alternate with artistic and cultural events of ancient and recent origin.
