Mission

Saint Valentine's great religious significance stems from his role as an exponent and promoter of nascent Christianity. Indeed, he sacrificed his life to promote a life steeped in Christian values such as family, honesty, and the worship of God the Father at the service of humanity.

During the decline of the Roman Empire, these values were in stark contrast with paganism, which placed the emperor above all others and presented himself as the embodiment of the will of the gods, thanks in part to his social class. The persecution of followers of the new Christian religion was just one of the many methods of repression unscrupulously adopted by the imperial authorities.

The corruption, hypocrisy, pride, and greed that characterized the Roman aristocracy of the time led Bishop Valentine to embark on a more authentic and sober path of life to spread and follow.

From the very beginning, the City of Terni has loved Valentine with an unconditional love. For the Terni community, this love is of great value, and for two millennia, they have not hesitated to ask the Saint for protection for themselves and their loved ones.

Over the centuries, this cult has been characterized by a mix of historical and legendary factors, but it has been noted that Saint Valentine has always been placed at the forefront of issues related to love and romance.

The legend of Sabino and Serapia testifies to love free from all prejudice and cultural and religious conditioning, and how it can be experienced fully and authentically.

The Events & Communication Association supports the values of Christian love on Valentine's Day and promotes love between lovers as a unifying force between two people, enabling them to aspire to new goals and experience love in its fullness, expressed through love for family, love between people of different religions, love for others, for the weakest, and for life in all its forms and nuances.

Love allows us to see the world free of enemies to be defeated and, indeed, presents our neighbor as a resource with whom we can embark and share a journey. Love is driven by the desire to promote and ensure a better life for ourselves and our society, freeing it as much as possible from war, selfishness, hatred, and loneliness, and building a freer society based on values shared by all.

The City of Terni and San Valentino play a leading role in promoting February 14th, Valentine's Day, organizing religious and cultural activities (seminars, conferences, events, exhibitions, spiritual retreats) aimed at promoting a life based on the value of mutual love.

Terni is the city of love not only for the beauty of its surroundings and the romance of its natural and architectural beauties, but also, and above all, for its religious and spiritual values, from which it begins to promote them globally, freeing itself from prejudices and pre-existing religious and cultural constraints.

The cultural heritage of Valentine's Day that has come down to us deserves to be supported, nurtured, and enhanced to offer others a fragment of history, unity, and hope.

The commercial activities, online services, and recreational and religious activities organized on February 14th aim to promote these ambitious goals, which are shared by all who embrace this philosophy of life and work.
