Every year on 14 February the St Valentine Fair takes place, a traditional event with almost three hundred stalls that for more than five hundred years has enjoyed great success among citizens. The Fair runs along Viale Trento up to the roundabout linking it with Viale Turati, where the statue of St Valentine stands, not far from the Basilica. It is in these places that, according to legend, the much-loved Valentine, first Bishop of ancient Nahard, was beheaded and buried.
The Fair is always packed with stalls that by now almost never find space along the route; for this reason, the St Valentine Market Exhibition was created, where there is still room for stalls or gazebos for exhibitors who do not want to miss this event.
From the Fair you can also take part in the other activities organised in the Basilica or go to the city centre to attend the many cultural initiatives.
