Basilica Sanctuary

Museo di San Valentino

Inside the Basilica of Saint Valentine, on the lower floor, a small museum has been set up where some archaeological finds dating back to Roman times have been placed. In the sixteenth century, on the occasion of the discovery of the Sacred Body, a marble chest was found containing some remains attributable to the Martyr of Terni. Some artifacts originally belonging to the ancient cemetery of San Valentino were also discovered. In the Museum there are numerous epigraphs from the 2nd century AD, marble chests, Doric columns and a small dry stone wall from the original pagan and then Christian cemetery of Saint Valentine. The Museum is open to pilgrims and visitors on the occasion of visits to the Basilica.
